We're talking about hardware that is already over 6 years old at this point, and with relatively few exceptions, isn't going to provide an ideal level of performance in the latest games anyway.Īnd in terms of game-specific optimizations and advanced driver features, the drivers on open-source platforms tend to fare worse to begin with, and game support in general won't be as good, so it would hardly be an upgrade to move to them as a solution. All this really means is that the older cards won't see game-specific driver optimizations (which generally won't focus on older hardware anyway), or new driver features, so it likely won't matter all that much.

You just have to upgrade away from Windows and closed-source vendors to realize it.You don't need to be running the latest graphics drivers for a card run perfectly fine in the vast majority of games. 12 GB (4 GB X 3) G.Ezst036 said:Forced obsolescence has been, to some extent, made obsolete and just isn't necessary anymore.Cooler Master HAF 912 White NZXT S340 Elite w/ white LED stips.Antec New TruePower 550W EVGA G2 650W + White CableMod cables.Crucial MX500 1TB SSD + SanDisk Ultra II 240GB SSD + WD Caviar Black 1TB HDD + Kingston V300 120GB SSD.20 GB (8GB X 2 + 4GB X 1) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz.Sapphire Vapor-X HD 7950 EVGA GTX 1070 SC Black Edition ACX 3.0.Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum + Corsair K70 (Red LED, anodized black, Cheery MX Browns).Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass Edition.EVGA SuperNOVA 850W P2 + Red/White CableMod Cables.SanDisk 480 GB SSD + 1TB Samsung 860 EVO + 1TB Intel 660p NVMe.32GB G.Skill TridentZ DDR4-3000 CL14 (16GB TridentZ RGB + 16GB Red/Black TridentZ).Sapphire NITRO+ RX 5700 XT Special Edition - 2x Sapphire NITRO R9-Fury in Crossfire.Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master - ASUS X99 Deluxe.Intel X99 Rig (Officially Decommissioned, Dead CPU returned to Intel)

Is it possible that any of these symptoms could be caused by insufficient power, or is this more likely a defective card? What could be going wrong? I was told that a 600w PSU, which is what I have, would be sufficient for this card, even though the card claims a minimum requirement of 750w.
It does boot, and the fans start (this card's fans do stop spinning under low load), so I know it's getting power. I also tried reseating the card a few times. Last time I used one of those programs I got stuck in a boot loop and couldn't even get into safe mode so had to reinstall. I checked the HDMI cable to make sure it was plugged in correctly. The only way to avoid it has been safe mode. Right now it says I am using the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, and that buys me a lot more time, but after a couple of hours, the monitor went black again. I tried uninstalling both the 270x and 390 drivers (tried both Add/Remove and Display Driver Uninstaller) to no avail. In one instance I encountered an error that said "bad_pool_header." There are always artifacts, random colors, like green, pink, and other distortions present beforehand. With the first few boots, I was able to get to the desktop, but now I always lose image at the Windows 10 loading screen.
That is, I've put it in the PCIE x16 slot and connected the power cables from my power supply, but it takes an inordinate time to boot and then I lose picture after a few minutes. Updating AMD drivers separately is not recommended.

I just purchased an MSI Radeon R9 390 8GB to replace my 270x, but I'm having trouble with installation. &0183 &32 To update AMD drivers - upgrade your Hive OS image to the latest version.
